Victim of overnight shooting in Metro East identified

EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – East St. Louis Police have identified 20-year-old Asante McCoy as the victim of an overnight shooting in the Metro East.

Authorities received a 911 call for shots fired in the 2100 block of Martin Luther King Drive around 11:15 p.m. in East St. Louis. When officers arrived, they found McCoy and a juvenile had sustained gunshot wounds. The juvenile was transported and treated at a local hospital.  A third subject was later found at a local hospital being treated for gunshot wounds sustained during the incident. 

According to investigators, four subjects, two adults and two juveniles, were walking along Martin Luther King Drive, when unidentified subject(s) opened fire. All four individuals are East St. Louis residents. The second juvenile was uninjured.

Around midnight, police were called to the 5500 block of Caseyville in Washington Park after a person was shot during an argument.

Authorities have not released any other details about the shooting.
