Man accused of enticing teen for sex via Pokémon Go app found guilty

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A St. Charles County man who was accused of trying to entice a teenage girl for sex using the Pokémon Go app has been found guilty, prosecutors said.

According to the St. Charles County Police Department, William R. Conner of Lake St. Louis Conner arranged to have sex with a 14-year-old he met online through an ad linked to the popular Pokémon Go game. The incident happened in July 2016.

Turns out, there was no 14-year-old girl, it was a sting operation, police say.

Conner was convicted on charges of enticement of a child, attempted statutory rape, attempted statutory sodomy and sexual misconduct involving a child.

He will be sentenced in April.
