Emergency crews in Edwardsville rescued several people during flooding

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Emergency crews in Edwardsville rescued several people during flooding Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 8:15 a.m., Edwardsville fire and EMS were called to the 3600 block of Edwardsville Road for a report of people trapped in a car due to flooding. One person was rescued from a vehicle in an area where water was approximately 5-feet deep.

Two other people were rescued from high ground that was surrounded by water near the area.

Around 9:05 a.m., the same crews were requested to provide mutual aid to the South Roxanna Fire Department after people became trapped in flooded cars near 5104 Old Alton Edwardsville Road. Officials said two people had to be rescued from separate vehicles because the water was approximately 3-feet deep in the area.

Rescue victims were evaluated by paramedics, but no further treatment was necessary, according to officials.

There was also flooding in South Roxana with water knee deep in some spots.
