Walmart requests 2nd continuance before finalizing Dardenne Prairie plans

DARDENNE PRAIRIE, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Walmart officials have asked the City of Dardenne Prairie for another continuance.

City aldermen were ready to give Walmart the stamp of approval during a Wednesday night meeting, but now they will have to wait at least two more weeks. The city’s mayor, David Zucker, told News 4 he is frustrated with the situation.

In March, Walmart first approached property owners with a plan to build a 24-hour grocery store and gas station just north of Feise Road, near Bryan Road.

Initially, there was a lot of back and forth about what the building would look like. Last month, Walmart and city leaders reached a tentative agreement on the design after seven different renderings.

Zucker told News 4 he doesn’t know why Walmart requested the second continuance. The first continuance was requested because the company was still finalizing the contract with property owners, but that has since been taken care of.

The mayor said the Walmart will be good for the area because it is a revenue generator and he wants to see those tax dollars stay in the city.
