NORTH ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police are searching for a man caught on camera breaking into a construction site in North St. Louis.

Around 2 a.m. on July 18, Tony Daniele of Pier St. Louis, a construction company, says someone stole electronics from Pier St. Louis' construction trailer.

“He cut through this gate here, with obviously a saw, and once he got the gate open he smashed the door and he was surprised by our alarms system,” said Daniele.

Daniele and his team are working on a riverfront development at Interstate 270 and Riverview Drive at the St. Louis City and County line.

According to Daniele, this is the second time they have been hit in two weeks. He believes it is the same individual.

“It looks like he knew what he was doing, not a snatch and grabber,” said Daniele.

The surveillance cameras in the trailer caught a clear image of the apparent thief, before he took a hammer to the camera.

In addition to stealing electronics, Daniele says there were several thousand dollars’ worth of damage done to the property during the break-in.

“It stops the construction when you take the electronics away, it's hard enough on small business as it is,” said Daniele.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the photos is urged to call police.
