OVERLAND (KMOV.com) -

A wanted man dove into a sewer to try to escape officers in Overland Friday afternoon, police say.

An officer spotted the man, who was wanted on outstanding warrants, police said. The foot chase occurred near the intersection of Woodson and Arline.

The officer caught up to the man and the two got into a struggle, before the suspect got away. He then ran into a sewer.

Firefighters were called in to bring a ladder so officers could find the man.

While in the sewer, the suspect made his way towards Baltimore Avenue. He was eventually arrested.

The officer involved in the struggle suffered bumps and bruises.
