ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Two suspects are wanted by police for an overnight shooting near Saint Louis University's campus (SLU).

The shooting happened in the alley way behind Vito's restaurant in the 3400 block of Lindell, right across the street from SLU.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said two men approached the victim asking for directions as he was leaving work around 12:22 a.m on July 15. The suspects then pulled out guns on the victim. Police say the suspects demanded his car keys and the victim complied.

The victim tried to run away but as the suspects drove off with his car, they shot the man in the calf, police say.

SLU officials said the campus searched for the suspects, but they were not found. The campus has been deemed secure since 5 a.m.

The victim is expected to be okay.

Police say the suspects ditched the victim's car. Authorities say they are searching for the thieves.
