ST. LOUIS, Missouri (KMOV) – St. Louis law enforcement officers are reflecting on their own safety following the shootings in Dallas and Ballwin. Jeff Roorda, with the St. Louis Police Officers Association, plays the shooting over and over in his mind and asks himself what he would have done if in the same situation as the officers in Dallas.

“There's not much tactically that you can do in that situation other than seek cover, and wait till the tactical units to get there," said Roorda.

Police Chief Sam Dotson said there is no indication of a specific threat in St. Louis, but he wants to be ready if need be. Dotson tells News 4 he's been speaking with the FBI and other agencies. He sees the attacks in Texas and in Ballwin as a stark reminder of just how dangerous the job can be.

“The prevalence of guns in the hands of criminals, and the willingness of those criminals as we saw in Dallas to specifically target law enforcement. It is shivering.  It does cause me to lose sleep at night,” said Dotson.
