ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – After 12 officers were shot in Dallas, five of them fatally, Thursday night, St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson is making changes to how his department operates.

While there is currently no unrest in St. Louis, Chief Dotson is ordering all on-duty officers to put on bullet proof vests before leaving the police station and to work in pairs. He also wants all park rangers and marshals to handle all calls with a partner.

“Although locally we are not experiencing any civil unrest, this decision is precautionary and is to maximize the safety of officers and our community,” the Chief posted to Twitter.
