ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) - Thursday night, crews responded to an underground fire that knocked out power in downtown St. Louis.

At least one manhole cover flew off after the fire started around 10:30 p.m. at 10th Street and Locust. Crews worked overnight to get the scene under control.

A similar incident happened last week after a new transformer had to be installed after being damaged during an underground explosion. This incident happened one block from the current fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
