(KMOV.com) – Police in Arnold, Mo. are tracking a crime trend where thieves enter department stores, scoop up as much merchandise as they can carry, and bolt out of the store to a car that’s waiting for them.

Officers say the thieves have hit six St. Louis area cities during the past several weeks.

On Wednesday, Arnold police arrested a man who tried to steal $350 worth of designer purses and $300 worth of shoes from the Ross Dress for Less store. The suspect is believed to be a part of a group of four “grab and run” thieves who also hit a Gordman’s store in Arnold.

On Thursday, Ballwin police arrested a man suspected of a similar crime at the Ross Dress for Less store on Manchester that occurred in May. It’s unclear if that thief is connected to the string of current robberies.

The thieves are believed to have hit these two stores three or four times.
