SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - The last of eight defendants has pleaded guilty in connection with a large-scale meth distribution ring that brought drugs from Arizona to Springfield.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that 37-year-old Michael P. Ayala pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute meth, money laundering and a gun charge after admitting his role in a multi-pound drug distribution network.

A press release from the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri says Ayala supplied pounds of meth from Arizona to a Springfield couple, who distributed it. Authorities arranged a controlled buy with Ayala and found him with a gun and $19,000.

Seven others have pleaded guilty to federal crimes in connection with the drug ring.

Ayala faces at least 10 years in prison and up to life in prison.
