ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Two women were struck by an Amtrak train late Monday night in south St. Louis City.

The women, identified as 20-year-old Jaclyn Landow, and 20-year-old Olivia Mares, were sitting on the tracks near the intersection of Manchester and Kingshighway when they were hit by the train before midnight, police said. According to the aunt of one of the victims, the two women were in the area for a party under the overpass.

The women were pronounced dead at the scene. The train involved was coming from Kansas City and headed to its stop in Downtown St. Louis.

The roadway was closed for several hours while emergency personnel responded to the area.

A website has been set up to help Jaclyn Landow's family with funeral expenses.

No other information was made immediately available.
