ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The pair of teens who drowned in the Meramec River Saturday night have been identified.

Police said the victims, Henry Manu, 18, and Samuel Neal, 17, were from St. Louis City.

Manu and Neal went under and didn't resurface around 7:50 p.m., that's when 911 was called. Crews later recovered their bodies around 11:00 p.m.

Investigators said three people. including Manu and Neal, were at Castlewood Park when the two of them went in the water. The person who chose to not get into the river was an adult, and called 911 after witnessing the others get dragged underneath the water.

Since July of 2015, five people have drowned in the Meramec River and 57 people have drowned throughout Missouri.
