BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Police recently arrested three teens they believe are behind a string of car burglaries in Belleville.

Lester Smith and August Burns, both 18, and a 15-year-old were arrested around 12:45 a.m. on June 22. Police say they spotted them in a stolen car in the 900 block of St. Clair Avenue in Belleville. Two loaded handguns and evidence of recent burglaries were found inside the car, police say.

Smith is charged with burglary and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Burns is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. The 15-year-old suspect was charged in juvenile court.

Police say the car the three were in was stolen out of Clayton.

Belleville residents say crime has been in a problem in their neighborhood recently.
