HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Authorities are searching for the person who broke into a woman’s car while she laid flowers on her husband’s grave.

Kathy Jones was visiting her husband’s grave at St. Ferdinand Cemetery in Hazelwood on Father's Day, June 19, when someone broke into her car and stole her purse and other items.

“What’s really absurd is my car was in my site the entire time,” said Jones.

Jones said she noticed something was wrong when she got back into her car after laying flowers on her husband’s grave.

“I started to pull away and it sounded like crumpled cellophane and I was like ‘what’s that noise?'" said Jones.

When she got home, Jones noticed her windows were broken and her purse was missing out of the backseat. In total, the stolen items are worth more than $1,000.
