SWANSEA (KMOV.com) -

A 32-year-old motorcycle driver died less than a week after being involved in a crash at a Fairview Heights intersection.

Jorge J. Marles, 32, or Fairview Heights, was driving a BMW motorcycle when he was hit by a Chevrolet Impala around 5 p.m. on June 22 near the intersection of Frank Scott Parkway and Sullivan Drive.

Immediately following the crash, Marles was taken to a St. Louis hospital by ARCH Air Medical Service and placed in critical condition. On June 28 authorities said Marles had died of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

According to police, Marles was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old woman from East St. Louis, was not hurt. She was issued a ticket for failing to yield after a primary investigation revealed she did not yield the right-of-way when making a left turn onto Sullivan Drive from Frank Scott Parkway.

The intersection of Frank Scott Parkway and Sullivan Drive was closed while accident reconstruction crews conducted an investigation.
