ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Crews that have to work outside during dangerously hot temperatures say they are taking extra precautions.

Ken Worland, Director of Ameren Missouri says safety and staying cool is an enormous priority.

Every truck that is on scene is loaded with coolers or bottles of water. Worland says water is always available to the workers.

Everyday crews are reminded to take breaks away from the sun and wear sunscreen, Worland says.

But most importantly, Worland says he tells his workers to look out for each other and to make sure that everyone’s coworker is drinking enough water to stay cool.

"We also brought out our command and control center which is a trailer that gives our employees an opportunity to get out of the heat and into some air conditioning when necessary," said Worland.
