ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Residents were displaced from two buildings following separate fires early Tuesday morning.

The St. Louis Fire Department was called to a three-story apartment building in the 1600 block of Carr, just north of downtown St. Louis, after flames were seen in the building around 2 a.m.

“’Cause the smoke was actually coming through our apartment and the apartment next to me. They got flooded when they were spraying the water through the apartments. So the smoke was going through all the apartments where you could actually choke and everyone had to come out,” said resident Kayla Glasby. “I had kids and they were choking.”

No injuries were reported during the blaze.

Less than three hours later, two people needed medical attention after an occupied two-story multi-unit apartment building caught fire in the 4000 block of Peck in north St. Louis, about three miles away from the first fire.

The cause of both fires is currently under investigation.
