ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police have identified a man who was believed to be intoxicated when he jumped into the Missouri River in St. Charles Friday morning.

According to police, Russ Stigger, 25, had been drinking when he stripped down to his boxers and jumped in the water around 12:45 a.m. Emergency crews were called to the 920 block of Riverside Drive, near the Trailhead Brewing Company, for a water search after he did not resurface.

The search was called off around 2:10 a.m.

The O’Fallon, Missouri man was pronounced dead Sunday by the St. Charles County Medical Examiner Investigator.
