O'FALLON, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Authorities are looking for a man described as “armed and dangerous” after he and an accomplice robbed customers at a gold store in O’Fallon, Illinois Tuesday afternoon.

Around 2:30 p.m. two armed men walked into Dollars 4 Gold on Highway 50 in O’Fallon, jumped the county and demanded four people hand over their cash and valuables, police say.

Several businesses nearby were placed on lockdown. The owner of Dollar 4 Gold said the store planned to reopen Wednesday.

A witness followed one of the suspects on foot into the Homestead and Brookside neighborhood. Police believe that suspect unsuccessfully tried to enter a car that had someone else inside. That suspect was arrested and later identified as 29-year-old Trent L. Yates, of East St. Louis.

On Thursday, Yates was charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm and one count of attempted armed robbery. His bond was set at $300,000.

A second suspect is still on the run and considered armed and dangerous. He is described as a black male, 5'6", wearing a shot sleeve red t-shirt, blue jeans, grey hoodie, a greyish black mask that covers the bottom half of his face and a dark colored nylon head rag.

Police believe he is armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

If you have any information about his whereabouts or the robbery, call police.
