Suspect, victim wounded when shots fired during struggle at South City home

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Two men are in stable condition after a suspect and victim were involved in a struggle during in a South City home Monday afternoon.

Around 4:05 p.m., a 33-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were inside a home in the 4300 block of Chippewa when they heard a knock at the door. When they opened the door, a 40-year-old suspect forced his way inside and showed a firearm.

After making his way into the residence, the 33-year-old man attempted to grab the gun and a struggle ensued, during which shots were fired. The 33-year-old was shot in the leg and the suspect was shot in the torso and arm.

Following the incident, the suspect left the residence. He was later found in the 4200 block of Chippewa and taken to the hospital for treatment. Warrants will be applied for, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
