ST. LOUIS, Mo. ( -

Friends of a former St. Louis resident who was killed in the mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub remember him as one of nicest people you will ever meet.

Myiesha West told News 4 she met Antonio Davon Brown, 29, several years ago when she was a bouncer at a Metro East nightclub trying to handle a dispute. West said Brown helped her and they became friends.

Brown lived in a loft in downtown St. Louis for three years before moving to Florida.

“He came in and the next weekend and remembered me and he was like ‘hey how’s it going? I thought you would have quit,” said West.

West said the two would often text and call each other. She also said he helped her financially during a tough time.

“When I felt like nobody else was there for me, he was. I felt like I didn’t have anyone in my corner as a single mother with three kids, but he was there,” said West.

West said Brown pitched in when she couldn’t come up with enough money for a house down payment. He also helped her out when he was living in Florida and she was having a difficult time feeding her children in North County.

“He called the Imo’s down the street, ordered pizza and had it sent to my address so my kids and I could eat,” said West.

Brown sometimes felt stressed in Florida and talked about moving back to St. Louis, West said.

West told News 4 she spoke to Brown on Saturday night and he told her was going out to club and also said he would call her Sunday.

That call never came.
