ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Police say there is little they can do to stop stunt motorcycle riders who endanger the safety of others on the road.

Recently, stunt bikers were spotted on May 1 zipping in and out of traffic, popping wheelies, speeding and running red lights on downtown St. Louis streets. Residents of downtown told News 4 they are concerned for the safety of drivers and pedestrians.

The majority of such riders film their antics and post them on social media platforms such as Instagram.

A group of riders were recently captured on camera taunting a sheriff’s deputy in southern Missouri.

St. Louis Police told News 4 they can ticket stunt riders for reckless driving and other traffic violations, but they are difficult to catch. However, police have added extra patrols and narrowed parts of Washington Avenue on busy weekend nights.
