ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A man who was fatally stabbed during a fight in the Tower Grove was identified Friday.

Authorities identified the victim as Joseph Recker, 37.

Shortly before 10 p.m. investigators were called to the 4200 block of Humphrey after receiving a call for a ‘cutting.’ When they arrived, Recker man was lying on the sidewalk with multiple puncture wounds. He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

An investigation revealed the stabbing occurred while Recker and 26-year-old suspect were involved in a physical altercation. The suspect fled the scene but was later located and taken into custody.

About an hour later detectives were called to the 4900 block of Plover Avenue, just south of the Calvary Cemetery, after a man, later identified as 42-year-old Courtney Ward, found with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said he died at the scene.

Both investigations are ongoing.
