ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – JC's Home Health Care Services, Inc. employees say they are working without pay.

However on April 26, instead of providing care for their patients, the employees waited hours to receive a paycheck that they did not get.

Employees say when they do get paid, sometimes the checks do not cash.

Kierra Whitehead, employee said, “We got light bills, we got a gas bill. We got cable bills. I have children. I have a car. I'm sitting up here [JC's Home Health Care Service, Inc.] now because I’m really low on gas. So I'm expecting her [Janice Ward] to still pop up and pay us something.”

JC's Home Health Care Services Inc. is a Medicaid funded provider that offers adults daycare and in-home services. The business is owned by Janice Ward.

No one responded when News 4 tried to track Ward down.

But Richard Jackson spoke to News 4 about his friend Ward.

“Ms. Ward is not a person who does not pay her employees. She's probably somewhere crying because her employees are not getting paid. Because that's how she is.”

Jackson says he blames the payment delays on issues with the bank.

“The last time it had something to do with the bank and the money going to the wrong account,” said Jackson.

Court records state at least two other cases ordered Ward to pay past due bills to medical providers.

“I'm saying there is a delay and she's [Ward] handling it. And I believe by faith that they'll have their checks tomorrow [April 27],” said Jackson.
