LAKE CITY, Fla. (KMOV.com) – Companies are developing technology to show when food was picked, the nutrition value and whether it contains pesticides.
Target is working to give the technology to its customers. A tester is used as a tool that looks like a gun to shoot light into fruits and vegetables.
The “gun” is called a mass spectrometer that scans produce while identifying a “fingerprint” of each item. This tool can let customers know exactly what they are buying, where it is from, and how long the food will last.
