DE SOTO, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A De Soto man is being charged for allegedly assaulting and injuring his father at a gas station in De Soto.

On Friday, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office filed charges against Adam Ray for second-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action. Ray could be facing a possible 14 years in prison if convicted of all charges.

The alleged domestic assault occurred on April 21 in the 800 block of N. Third Street, where Ray and his father lived. Police said an altercation between Ray and his father broke out at their home. The father told police Ray struck him with a closed fist, a walking stick, and then held a knife to his throat.

De Soto Police Chief Rick Draper said the father had abrasions on his left elbow and wrist and the injuries were bloodied, although not actively bleeding. Draper said the injuries were described as being from the walking stick.

Police also said the victim had marks on the left side of his face and neck, supposedly where Ray allegedly punched hum. Cuts were on the left side of the father's throat, police said.

Ray is currently in the Jefferson County jail where he is being held on $50,000 cash-only bond.
