(KMOV.com) – An equipment company in West St. Louis County has been hit by thieves again after they stole four riding lawn mowers and a tractor.

“It drives you crazy. You can’t be here 24 hours a day,” said Joe Tegethoff, the manager of Heavy Equipment. “This was well planned out, probably done in an evening as it gets dark around here.” Heavy Equipment has so much inventory, they are forced to park many lawnmowers and tractors outside, and because of their location, they aren’t allowed to put up a fence.

The business is located next to the Monarch Levy, which comes with many restrictions. “Because we are so close to the levy, fences aren’t allowed so we are a sitting duck,” Tegethoff said.

The theft was noticed by staff Monday morning. It’s believed the thieves brought a trailer to haul away the equipment. Another theft took place on March 22. No fingerprints were found at the scene and there was no surveillance video. Since then, the company has installed a newer camera system in order to prevent more thefts.

The investigation is ongoing.
