ST. LOUIS -- Storms across the St. Louis area may produce severe hail this afternoon into early evening.
An area of low pressure moving by today has very cold air aloft. Thunderstorms that develop in this kind of atmosphere can produce hailstones very quickly and effectively.
Most hail is expected to remain pea- or penny-sized, but a few storms may be able to produce quarter-sized hail or larger. This may trigger a few severe thunderstorm warnings through this evening.
