ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Several St. Louis Police Department recruits are credited with helping an elderly man who fell and struck his head on pavement Tuesday.

The recruits were on Spruce Street when they saw the man fall. While waiting for EMS to arrive the recruits used medical gauze and applied pressure to the wound. They also provided comfort and protection to the man and his wife, according to the department.
