University cafeteria worker injured in shooting on Wash U campus

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- One person was injured in a shooting on Washington University's campus Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened on Forsyth near the Mallinckrodt Center, according to a tweet by Washington University. 

According to police, a driver and passenger were in a silver car when someone inside a black SUV fired shots at the silver vehicle. Police believe the shooting appears to be an act of road rage.

A woman inside the silver car who is a cafeteria worker at Wash U was shot in the forearm. Their injuries are believed to be not life-threatening and the victim was transported to a St. Louis hospital for treatment. The Clayton Police Department is investigating the shooting, along with the Washington University Police Department.

The school was placed on lockdown for more than an hour, but the lockdown was lifted before 3:00.

A GoFundMe page has been created for the victim's medical expenses.
