ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Police are investigating to see if two business break-ins near Forest Park are connected

A small amount of money was taken during a smash-and-grab at a dog groomer in the 5500 block of Pershing in the Debaliviere Place neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

Around 1:40 a.m. the suspect busted through the front door and took a few dollars from A Walk in the Park, police said.

A few minutes later, police say someone broke into the Puravegan Cafe, which is located nearby on Belt Avenue. An iPad and empty cash register were stolen.

"I was sleeping and we have a 6:00 a.m. yoga class, so the instructor called and woke me up to let me the know the glass had been knocked out," said Puravegan's owner Monica Stoutenborough.

Nobody was injured in either burglary. Stoutenborough said she's not angry at the person responsible.

"Someone must have been in a pretty bad position if they felt they needed to do that. So I would just hope that we're okay and we want to tell them that we forgive them."

Stoutenborough said Puravegan has surveillance cameras, but the burglar disabled it. The footage stops as the crime begins.
