5 teens accused of beating jogger with tree branches near Forest Park

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Five teenagers were taken into custody after they allegedly beat a 45-year-old man with tree branches on the trail near Forest Park Sunday.

The victim told police he was running on the trail in the area of Skinker and Arundel when he saw the boys blocking the path shortly before 7 p.m. When he attempted to run past the group, they struck him multiple times with tree branches.

The suspects, described as being between the ages of 13 and 16, were taken into custody in the 40 block of South Skinker shortly following the incident.

The victim was taken to the hospital with multiple lacerations to his face and bruising to his body.

The suspects are currently in custody of juvenile authorities.

The investigation is ongoing.
