Rockwood School District adding buses for after school activities

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Six new buses are being added to Rockwood School District for after school activities.

The district plans to use to buses for middle school students during after school activities.

The Rockwood School Board approved a district-owned bus system in February, costing about $9 million.

Since activity buses were cut from the district’s budget a few years ago bringing them back has been a priority.

“I talked to many parents who requested this, our middle school administrators and teachers want it badly. It’s good for kids it will ramp up more participation kids in school and those after school activities so it’s a win, win,” Rockwood Superintendent Eric Knost said.

The board agreed buying the buses in bulk makes more sense than waiting and paying more later on.

The district said it is still working to develop a transportation plan for the students.
