ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A fourth semi-truck in three weeks overturned on the same stretch of road near downtown St. Louis overnight.

The ramp from the Poplar Street Bridge onto southbound Interstate 55 features a sharp curve that is causing tractors trailers to flip, the latest incident occurring shortly after midnight Friday. The semi-truck was uprighted around 3 a.m., officials said.

In March, News 4 started pressing Missouri Department of Transportation officials about the dangerous stretch of road. The officials said they would be adding two new warning signs and reducing the speed limit in the area to 20 miles per hour.

“If you remember that used to be a single lane ramp with a pretty sharp radius,” said MoDOT District Engineer Greg Horn. “Last year we got to the point where we finally got to replace it and we made it a dual lane ramp so it’s two lanes now.  It’s a bigger sweeping curve but there’s still a curve in there.”

News 4’s Anthony Kiekow drove the roadway following the latest incident and confirmed the new signs were posted.

Fortunately, no one has been fatally injured during the incidents.
