KIRKWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Dunkin' Donuts said a shipping mix up was to blame for coffee being sold in cups promoting the Chicago Blackhawks at a location in Kirkwood.

The store recently served coffee in cups that said “Dunkin' Donuts: The official coffee of the Chicago Blackhawks.” The sale came the same week the Blues began a playoff series with the Blackhawks, the Blues longtime rival.

News 4 showed the cups to several Blues fans as they were making their way into Scottrade Center before Game 1 against the Blackhawks.

“That’s disgusting. They can’t do that here,” said one fan.

Dunkin' Donuts later sent News 4 a statement:

“Due to an untimely shipping error from the regional distribution center. Being a local business owner and fan of the hometown team, the franchisee plans to switch out the cups as soon as they receive a new shipment.”

On Wednesday, News 4 learned the same store was no longer selling coffee in the cups.
