Police department stepping up patrols for a busy night of sports in downtown

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The Blues are hosting a first round playoff game while the Cardinals have their first home night game of the season, making for a busy Wednesday night in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Police Department said they plan on having extra officers patrolling parking garages and lots near Busch Stadium and the Scottrade Center to keep fans safe.

The department said fans should park in well-lit areas and use garages and lots with parking attendants.  They are also warning fans not to leave valuable items, including cell phones and guns, in their vehicles.

The puck for the Blues and Blackhawks game will drop at 8:30 p.m. and the first pitch at for the Cardinals and Brewers will be thrown out at 7:15 p.m.
