NORTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

A woman was killed in north St. Louis when another car swerved and hit her vehicle late Thursday morning, police said.

An Acura TL allegedly driven by Brian Herd, 24, was traveling south on N. Broadway near Taylor at a high rate of speed when the car swerved into the northbound lanes and hit a Nissan Maxima driven by Warnesha Sleet, 63.

The Maxima then hit three more cars before coming to a rest, police said. Sleet was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Herd was taken to a hospital, treated and then taken into custody. He is charged with first-degree manslaughter, armed criminal action and driving with a suspended license.
