FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – An intoxicated woman was tased after she pointed a loaded handgun at Franklin County Sheriff Deputies Wednesday afternoon, according to officials.

The deputies were dispatched to the 4000 block of Highway V in Villa Ridge after they received a report that a gunshot may have been fired in the area.

When deputies arrived they found the door to the residence locked. The 54-year-old suspect originally refused to let anyone enter the residence because she believed it was her landlord, but continued to deny the deputies entry after they verified they were not the landlord, according to officials.

After the deputies learned the identity of the woman they discovered there was an active warrant for her arrest.

The deputies got a key to the residence and made entry. The suspect was found inside a locked bedroom. When asked to open the door, the suspect said she was not going to open the door and knew there were warrants for her arrest, authorities said.

The deputies said when they forced their way into the room they found the suspect pointing a handgun towards them. One of the deputies had his Taser drawn, which he immediately deployed, striking the suspect, who then dropped the handgun and fell to the floor.

When authorities inspected the gun they said they found it loaded with the hammer pulled back.

The suspect was taken into custody for an active warrant, investigation of assault second on law enforcement and unlawful use of a weapon.
