ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOV.com) – A semi-truck dangled partway over the Discovery Bridge in St. Charles County after an accident on April 6.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. on April 6 on Highway 370 at Highway 94.

Corporal Justin Wheatley with the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened when two cars crashed into each other. The semi was not able to stop in time to avoid the wrecked cars, so the semi hit both vehicles. The semi then went partway over the bridge.

The cab of the semi was dangling about 30 feet above the ground. The driver was out by the time emergency crews arrived. The driver suffered no injuries.

The two drivers that caused the crash were transported with minor injuries.

The roadway was completely closed eastbound on Highway 370 at Highway 94 for several hours. One lane was reopened after 4 p.m.

The accident was still affecting traffic as of 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Wheatley says it took a long time to get the wreck off the bridge. Crews had to carefully load off the truck cargo, appearing to be soap of some sort.
