CHESTERFIELD, Mo. ( – A Jerseyville, Illinois boy was diagnosed with a terminal brain disease in February and the St. Louis County Police Department helped him check off something on his bucket list.

One of the things on 5-year-old Hayden Brown’s bucket list was to see a helicopter up close. Chief Jon Belmar of the St. Louis Police Department welcomed Hayden and his family to the Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Hayden’s father, Jonathan Brown, says his son has always wanted to see a helicopter up close.

"The list is all about me not being able to afford everything. I can to fill his life with memories," said Brown.

Hayden smiled brightly while playing with the controls in the helicopter and meeting county police officers, forgetting for an afternoon the dire heath challenges he faces.

Chief Belmar said, "This is a big deal for us because often times we deal with so much tragedy. To bring something positive into someone's life, my officers like to do this, frankly, it's an honor."

Hayden’s family says the next activity on his list is knocking down a house with an excavator. Hayden’s family says they are asking for the public’s help, but not for money. They are asking for any assistance with creating experiences for their son.
