ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Voters in St. Louis City and County voted in favor of two propositions relating to sewer and storm water service.

Voters supported Proposition Y and Proposition S. Prop Y approves the use of $900 million in bonds to improve waste water systems. MSD says the improvements are required under an agreement with the EPA.

The measure will raise rates to around $60 per month in four years, says MSD. Customers currently pay an average of $41 per month.

Proposition S revamps funding for storm water systems.

MSD says the type of storm water service provided to parts of St. Louis City and County varies on location, causing some areas to go without the proper service. MSD claims Prop S will bring everyone in their jurisdiction the same storm water service.

MSD told News 4 different parts of the St. Louis area pay different rates for storm water service, something supporters of Prop S say the measure will fix.
