13-year-old accused of stealing 4 cars in 3 days in Hillsboro, Illinois

HILLSBORO, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A teenager is accused of stealing four cars in three days in Hillsboro, Illinois.

The 13-year-old allegedly stole the first car in the early morning hours of March 28. After stealing the vehicle, which was parked behind Sullivan’s in downtown Hillsboro, the suspect drove it to Litchfield and back. During the drive, an officer conducted a traffic stop, which resulted in pending charges.

Around 5:50 a.m. two days later, police received a report of another vehicle that was stolen. At 7:40 a.m. and 11:52 a.m. the same day, police received two more calls for stolen vehicles.  

According to police, one of the stolen vehicles was found at Central Park and another was found on Hilltop Drive.

A building near where the vehicle was found at Central Park was damaged, police said. There was also damage to fence around the football field at Hillsboro High School, near Hilltop Drive.

The suspect was inside the stolen vehicle when it was found on Hilltop Drive, officials said.
