(BaseballStL) -- The cold temperatures in Pittsburgh may have played a contributing factor for Cardinal outfielder Tommy Pham who exited Sunday's season opener in the middle of the second inning with left oblique tightness.
INJURY REPORT: Tommy Pham left the game with left oblique tightness.— St. Louis Cardinals (@Cardinals) April 3, 2016
Pham, 28, grounded out to third base in his first and only at-bat of the game. It's unclear when the tightness set in, however, Pham was running hard out of the box and just missed being safe by a step.
The temperature at game time was 39 degrees, a stark contrast to the weather in Florida, which could have played a role in Pham's injury.
Matt Adams came in to Pham's spot in the lineup pushing Matt Holliday out to left.
