SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

The Humane Society rescued nearly 30 dogs from what the organization describes as “deplorable” conditions in rural Mo.

The dogs were rescued from Newton County, Mo. Many of them are suffering from bleeding sores, parasites and severe hair loss.

The Humane Society believes the animals were being fed, but did not have water and were living among their own feces near an abandoned trailer.

The dogs were taken to the Humane Society headquarters in Dogtown where veterinarians have begun medical care.  The dogs were tough for crews to catch because they are not used to human contact.
