RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – After an attempted carjacking at the Galleria mall in Richmond Heights two suspects led police on a chase that ended with a crash in north St. Louis.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, the suspects attempted a carjacking in the garage at the Galleria. The suspects ran from the garage after they could not drive the vehicle because it had a manual transmission.

After the suspects left the garage, a Brentwood police officer saw them running into the Brentwood Forest area. Shortly after, a different officer spotted the suspects driving a stolen white Jeep Cherokee at a high rate of speed on East Swan Circle.

According to officials, the vehicle was stolen by two armed men who approached a woman in the 1400 block of Bluebird Terrace and demanded her purse and keys to the vehicle.

The suspects then rammed the stolen vehicle into a vehicle on Wrenwood Lane and proceeded south on Brentwood Boulevard, leading police on a chase, authorities said.

The police chase, which lasted around 30 minutes and involved several different agencies, came to an end when the vehicle crashed at Natural Bridge and Clara.

After the vehicle crashed, the suspects left the scene.

Witnesses told News 4 speeds hit 85 miles per hour during the chase.

No other information regarding the armed robbery or chase has been released.
