ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A few weeks after firing Jim Crews, Saint Louis University announced they have hired Travis Ford to be its new men’s basketball coach.

Ford comes to SLU from Oklahoma State where he was the head coach for eight years. He led the Cowboys to an overall record of 155-111 and took the Pokes to the NCAA tournament five times. Ford previously coached at Massachusetts, Eastern Kentucky and Campbellsville University.

Ford has local ties. He played one year of college basketball at Mizzou (1989-90), before transferred to Kentucky.

SLU will be holding a press conference at 12:00 p.m. on March 31 to introduce Ford.
