ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Washington University officials issued an emergency alert after a person with a weapon was reported on the school's North Campus Wednesday morning.

The university sent the alert out around 9:35 a.m. warning people at the North Campus, located in the 700 block of Rosedale, to go to safe place and remain there until further notice. The North Campus is located north of Delmar, off of Skinker Road.

Officials with the St. Louis Police Department said they received a call for "shots fired" in the 800 block of Rosedale shortly before the university issued the alert. No victim was found at the location, according to officials.

Shortly after issuing the alert, the campus tweeted the emergency was over and normal activities could be resumed.

According to Washington University officials, the incident involving gunfire near the campus was specifically along the MetroLink tracks.
