ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- No charges will be filed after a Patriot Guard Ride Captain riding a motorcycle as the tail vehicle in a funeral procession was fatally struck Monday while en route to Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.

Police said 64-year-old Mark Schroeder was struck by a vehicle while attempting to turn into the Walmart shopping plaza at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Barracksview Road around 1:30 p.m. Schroeder was heading northbound on Telegraph Road as the last vehicle in the funeral procession at the time of the crash. A 64-year-old woman drove the car that hit Schroeder. There was a 2-year-old in the backseat.

Authorities said Schroeder was transported to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Following an investigation, the St. Louis County Police Department said no charges would be filled against the driver of the minivan because the vehicle was stopped at a green light at the intersection, recognizing the funeral procession. When the driver thought the procession had ended, she proceeded on a green light, attempting to cross telegraph and drive into the shopping center. The driver said she did not see the motorcycle and struck it.
